Aging Building-Integrated PV Modules at NIST

Guest research, NIST, 2020 to 2022

As a guest researcher in the NIST Heat Transfer & Alternative Energy Systems Group, I tested more than 20 aged PV modules using AAA solar simulators and electroluminescence imaging. Python automation improved testing efficiency by 50%.

I also led the apparatus that holds the solar panels during electroluminescence testing from start to finish: I researched parts (80/20 aluminum framing), designed it in CAD, proposed it to the team, gathered the documents for the budget request, then received the parts and built it.

This work led to a co-authored paper at IEEE PVSC 2023, listed on the publications page.
