AutoGrow

Award-winning senior design project, GWU, 2022 to 2023

AutoGrow is a solar-powered automated gardening system built as my senior design project at GWU. It runs on a 100 W PV panel and a 12 V battery, with an ESP32, a custom PCB, MicroPython firmware, and a Flutter app.

We were a four-person team: a computer engineer (me), an electrical engineer, a computer scientist and a mechanical engineer. The electrical engineer and I deliberately swapped roles so we could learn each other’s field. I took on the power hardware, with his help designing the power rails for the different devices, and I helped him with the code.

It won the Derrill Rohlfs Award for Best SEAS Senior Design.
